Jaisalmer is a former medieval trading center and princely state in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, in the heart of the Thar Desert. Known as the "Golden City," it's distinguished by its yellow sandstone architecture. Dominating the skyline is Jaisalmer Fort, a sprawling hilltop citadel buttressed by 99 bastions. Behind its massive walls stand the ornate Maharaja's Palace and intricately carved Jain temples.

Jaisalmer Airport is located 17 kilometres south-east of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, India.




Jaisalmer is accessible via train from any major city. The nearest would be the journey from New Delhi, which takes 4-5 hours.




There are Volvo Buses straight from ISBT, New Delhi that heads towards Jaisalmer. Buses are also available from anywhere in Rajasthan.




JAISALMER FORT

It is known as Golden Fort of Rajasthan and was constructed by Raja Jaisal, Rajput ruler in the year 1156 AD. The golden and yellow mixed sandstone magical fort is also ranked amongst the largest forts in the world.



BADA BAGH

The name Bada Bagh means ‘Huge Garden’. Maharawal Jait Singh’s period saw its construction, which was in the beginning of 16th century. You can see beautiful monuments around the garden as you walk by on a sunny day.



KULDHARA ABANDONED VILLAGE

The Abandoned Village is about 15 Km, west of Jaisalmer. The village was established in 1291 by the Paliwal Brahmins and is also known as a cursed village. While your walk through the village will be like wandering onto the sets of a ghost movie.



PATWON- KI- HAVELI

Salim Singh-ki-Haveli was built by Salim Singh, who was the formidable prime minister of Jaisalmer. It is an 18th Century Haveli, which has beautifully arched roof that has a superb carved brackets in the form of peacocks.
