Nestled in the mystical hills of Kangra district, Dharamshala is a hill station which captures your imagination and lets you rejuvenate and get in touch with your inner self. It is mostly run by Tibetans, the influence of which can be seen in fluttering Tibetan prayer flags and beautiful temples and monasteries designed according to the Buddhist culture.

The Gaggal Airport near Kangra is the airport nearest to Dharamshala, 13 km away. Recently upgraded, the airport receives daily Air India and SpiceJet flights from New Delhi.




The major railway station nearest to Dharamshala is Pathankot (85 km) where numerous trains going to J&K halt, post which you can hire a taxi or board a bus. Kangra Mandir (22 km) is another railway station nearby, but no major trains stop here.




There are many HRTC volvos and private buses from Delhi to Dharamshala. While most buses terminate at Lower Dharamshala, some HRTC buses go up till the main square in Mcleod Ganj. Dharamshala is 520 km from Delhi and requires 13 hours of journey.




HPCA STADIUM

Arguably the most stunning stadium in India, the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium lies at 1,317m above the sea. Surrounded by the mighty Dhauladhars, it is a breath-taking venue for cricket matches with a capacity for 23,000 people.



DAL LAKE

A beautiful lake set amidst lush green Deodar forests, the Dal Lake, Dharamshala inspires its name from Kashmir's Dal Lake. The starting point of treks, a Shiva Temple rests on its banks where a lively fair is held every September.



BHAGSUNAG FALLS

Bhagsunag Falls is an enchanting waterfall, just 11 km from Dharamshala and lies on the way to Triund. Ideal for camping, this 20m fall is a marvel to look at, especially during the monsoons and is famous for the Bhagsunath Temple and Shiva Café.



TRIUND HILLS

Triund, the crown jewel of Dharamshala, gives mesmerising views of Kangra Valley and Dhauladhar ranges. This tranquil mountain top can be reached after a moderate trek through beautiful forest trails where you can enjoy camping and a starry sky.
