Overview:-


The holy city of history, culture, spirituality and religion, Amritsar which is located in Punjab, the Land of Five Rivers, is considered as the capital of  Sikh religion since the 16th century. It derives its name from the holy water pool around the Golden Temple and means 'holy pool of nectar'.

Amritsar Junction is an important railway station in the country and has plenty of regular trains connecting it to all parts of the country.





Regular buses are available from Amritsar to most of the cities of nearby states and northern areas are reachable within a day's drive. New Delhi is just a 6-7 hour ride from here and is well-connected by buses.




GOLDEN TEMPLE

Famous as the Harmandir Sahib, it is considered as centre and soul of Amritsar. The beautiful Amrit Sarovar is believed to have divine medicinal powers and attracts people from all faiths. Millions of pilgrims visit this place every year.



JALLIANWALA BAGH

It is the somber witness of worst massacres of Indian history where British General Dyer ordered a brutal firing on more than 300 innocent civilians in 1919. Bullet marks and the well can be found even today reminding us of that genocide.



WAGAH BORDER

Located on the India and Pakistan border, Wagah Border is a great symbol of patriotism and of national significance. Every evening, the ceremony of lowering of flags by both nations attracts thousands of visitors from both countries.



CENTRAL SIKH MUSEUM

It is the oldest religious museum and one of the most popular tourist attraction of the city. It displays the historic age old culture and traditions of Sikh community and the people belonging to it.
