Overview:-


Agra was famous as Agrabana which means Paradise, at the time of Mahabharat. Agra, the land of the Taj Mahal, the monument that has come to eternally symbolize love, is a city of rich historical and architectural heritage which is visited by a large number of tourists every year. Though Taj Mahal is the single largest tourist attraction of this city, Agra also offers fine works of art and craft, typical delicacies to savour and an insight into its elements of vibrant culture. Being a few hours drive away from Delhi enables you to undertake same day tours to this city. It is a popular weekend getaway from Delhi and is a part of the Golden Triangle tourist circuit, with Delhi and Jaipur being the other two cities of this triangle


TAJ MAHAL

Despite its hype, the Taj Mahal continues to enjoy its unique position as a landmark among travellers throughout the world. The most historic and beautiful monument remains as a prime attraction in Agra.



JAMA MASJID

 Directly opposite to the Agra Fort, is the largest mosque in Agra. Jama Masjid is an architectural wonder made by red sandstone domes. It was commissioned by Shah Jahan in the 16th century.



AGRA FORT

It is an extensively built Mughal Fort in the shadow of Taj Mahal. This fort occupies a huge area of 94 acres and serves as another most popular destination in Agra. It provides stunning views of river Yamuna.



SIKANDRA

Akbar's tomb is the tomb of the Mughal emperor, Akbar and an important Mughal architectural masterpiece. It was built in 1605–1613 and is situated in 119 acres of grounds in Sikandra, a suburb of Agra.



Agra airport is a military airbase and public airport serving the city of Agra, in the state of Uttar Pradesh.




Agra is well-connected to all major cities in India through trains. There are 3 railway stations- Agra Cantt, Agra Fort and Raja Ki Mandi. 




Idgah bus stand is the main bus station in the city. Frequent bus connections are available from Delhi, Jaipur and Gwalior.




FATEHPUR SIKRI

The city was founded in 1569 by the Mughal Emperor Akbar, and served as the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1571 to 1585, when it was abandoned. After his military victories Akbar decided to shift his capital from Agra to a new location 23 miles (37 km) west south-west on the Sikri ridge.



PANCH MAHAL

The Panch Mahal is a five storey building in Fatehpur Sikri. Renowned for its exceptional architecture, it is situated close to the harem or zenana quarters, which is fitting since it functioned as a pleasure palace. Built by Akbar, the architecture of Panch Mahal was inspired by that of a Buddhist temple..



EVENING LIGHT AND SOUND SHOW AT AGRA FORT

The light and sound show which is conducted on a daily basis is based on the story of Emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz’s love story. The stage has a beautiful replica of Taj Mahal which is used as a background of the stage. It is conducted in two languages i.e. English and Hindi. The timings of both these shows vary from each other. This show gets conducted for every day, so if travellers miss one day they can plan for next day as well.



Itimad- Ud- Daulah

Itimad-ud-Daulah is famous as the Baby Taj. It is a Persian-style monument made in the memory of Mirza Ghiyas Beg who was the grandfather of Mumtaz and a wazir in Shah Jahan's Court.
